New research highlights the importance of providing mental health support for those who may feel isolated: A new report released by national mental health charitySupport in Mind Scotland and the National Rural Mental Health Forum has highlighted the importance of creating spaces which allow people to engage and feel part of the community.

The report – entitled Well Connected Communities – is the result of research undertaken in Dumfries and Galloway, West Lothian, Ayrshire, Argyll & Bute and the Western Isles, to look at a community approach to mental health and wellbeing. Individuals were quick to come up with innovative ideas to create better well-connected communities, with better co-ordination between stakeholders, more attention on mental health and wellbeing being needed, and a joined-up approach by private, public and third sectors to create a culture where communities work together.
