With the support of The Robertson Trust, Voluntary Action Scotland and ACIE are delighted to offer a free, two day course on the preparation and examination of charity accounts.
The course will be of interest to people who want to know more about the preparation and examination of charity accounts, or ensure that their knowledge is up to date, especially:
- Treasurers or committee members
- Independent examiners
- Members of the public, especially anyone considering becoming an independent examiner
The course is available:
- in Glasgow on 4th and 5th September 2014
- or in Edinburgh on 29th and 30th September 2014
Day 1 – Understanding Receipts & Payments Accounts will focus on the preparation of Receipts & Payments accounts, their form and content and the specific requirements of charity accounting. Through a case study participants will prepare a simple set of Receipts & Payments accounts.
Day 2 – Understanding Independent Examination will focus on the independent examination of accounts including what an independent examination is and who can act as an independent examiner. The day will take participants through the process of carrying out an independent examination from first contact with a charity to the final sign off letter.
No particular prior knowledge or experience is required. Participants can attend either both days or only day 1 or day 2.
This course is open to other voluntary organisations as well as TSIs, however we have secured a designated number of slots for TSIs only. The course is of relevance to TSI officers and staff already involved in Preparation and Examination of Charity Accounts (as a refresher) or to staff who are new to it and whom you would like to be trained.
